Butterfly Hello Recessed Window Card

Hello! Yikes, it's been a while...hasn't it? I somehow went on a blog hiatus that was completely unintentional on my part. The last couple of months have been crazy busy for me and I am happy to be back in my blog corner!

I'm squeezing in this card for a challenge that A Muse Studio issued to all its Creative Consultants. We were to create a recessed window card and post it.

Lately, I've been into all things woodgrain so the A Muse Studio Woodgrain Background stamp came in really handy! I love how the woodgrain pattern lines have a modern feel to it...don't you think?

First, I cut a 4 in. x 5.25 in. piece of kraft cardstock and rounded two of the corners using the Corner Chomper.  I inked up the woodgrain background stamp with Grass ink. Then, I placed the piece of cardstock on top of the inked stamp and placed another piece of scrap cardstock over it and pressed it into the stamp. This is a little trick for getting an evenly inked image on your cardstock piece. You just have to be careful to lift the cardstock up directly.

I cut the butterfly window using the largest Butterfly die from the Butterfly Trio set of dies. I decided it needed some antennae and just drawing them on wasn't going to do so of course I had to use some Bermuda pearl stickers to give it some pizazz! I think it did the trick! Then, I outlined the butterfly cut out by piercing holes around it to give it an added finish.

For the card base, I used Bubblegum solid cardstock and cut a small piece of Bermuda cardstock to put underneath the cut out window. Before adhering the layered kraft piece with dimensional foam, I placed it onto the card base and stamped the 'hello' word from the 'Just My Type' stamp set right in the middle.  I then finished off the card with some luxurious Bubblegum satin ribbon.

I really love how this card turned out! I'm gonna have to make some more with other color combinations! Thanks for stopping by and I will try not to be gone for soooo long! Stay tuned shortly for more creations using woodgrain...I've got a few things I've been experimenting with!
